new taxi service

New taxi service opened today with a massive food fest people came from all around the place to converge of the opening of the taxi service today, there were masses of food left and no end to the pizza's they just kept producing them one after the other, loads of curry I was full when I left there.

Is that to do with the planning app that went before the planning committe last week?

I think so, but don't hold me on that one, I know the mayor were there to open the taxi service.

OK so where is the new taxi service, let us all know.

It's a long time since my dad ran Wadswoth's Wedding, Funeral and taxi firm at 100 Rochdale road, tel Tod 220.
If you look across from the supermarket you will see the doors which in my days were glass, we had four big Austin 20/6's a Wolsley and a Rolls Royce Hearse for carting the dead bodies about.
He later ran Bracewell's a similar firm which was at the Square garage Rochdale road ( I think 691) and then he worked for Sunderland's which was on Hall street behind the library.

I bet the new taxis aren't as posh as the ones in my youth.

No! Gremlin there not but they are new.

Not a taxi tale but when I first moved away from Walsden I lived first of all nr Copy Pit on Calderhead Farm aand then Valley Nurseries Rose Grove.
It was very handy to pop over to Todmorden on a train have a few pints in my favourite pub (Golden Lion) and catch the 11pm back to Rose grove then a short walk home. Tod curve taken up has stopped all that now and by the time it MAY be re installed I will be past it.
I once missed the train, ( a womans fault) and got a taxi home, I can't remember the fare but I bet it would be at least £25 now. Find out for me please the fare from Tod to Accrington at 11pm. I won't be in the Lion though cos I went in a few weeks ago at lunch time and none of my mates were in (mostly dead) and it was totally different pub.
I would probably join our Zak in the Welly. Free bus over and expensive taxi back but a good night out in Gods own Town.

did a bit of taxi driven a few years back ( well more than a few ).. I always did a really late run with this job to Accrington... Friday night or early Sat morning.... depending on when he had finished with his paramore.... I always remember it cause he was quite a jolly fellow ..and always gave a big tip... the fare then if i recall correctly was £4:50 ... I doubt if this is any help to you at all ... but if I do find out todays price for this trip I will post it forth with ...or even sooner

That must be a lot of years ago Joe if the fare was only £4.50 I pay that to get back from Accrington to Church where I live and it's only a mile and half.
I could drive over but it's getting back with a the mandatory 4 pints in my belly.

The bus pass is great but takes too long. I get over to Tod at least twice a month and have my snap in the Blue Willow. Maybe I could look some of you forumites up one week.
